Car & Driver 10 Best Cars Award
Car and Driver magazine annually nominates a list of what it considers the Ten Best Cars and Five Best Trucks. All production vehicles for sale in that calendar year are considered with certain restrictions, which are: 1) The vehicle must be on sale by January; 2) It must be priced below 2.5 times the average car price for that year; 3) The manufacturer must provide an example for testing; and 4) Only substantially changed vehicles and the past year's 10 best cars (or 5 best trucks) are nominated. The magazine sometimes selects a specific trim and other times a whole family of vehicles.
The name of the publication and the "10" (or "5" for the trcuk award) is custom cut brass and plated in 24K gold which is then mounted atop a custom cut glass oval that fits inside an oval black granite arch. The arch is then attached to a black granite base with a gold plated brass band that is engreved to announce the winning vehicle. The logo publication name is etched and colorfilled to match the colors of the Car & Driver logo.
