AMPAS Scientific and Engineering Award
Unlike other Academy Awards, achievements recieving Scietific and Technical Awards need not have been developed and introduced during a specific year. Rather, the achievements must demonstrate a proven record of contributing significant value to the process of making motion pictures.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Scientific and Engineering Award is a centrifugally cast 24K gold plated award that is attached to a rectangular black metal base with a slight ramp in front to place an engraving plate with the recipient's name, achievement and year received. The casting has a 3-D frontal view of the Oscar Award standing on half a film reel with a billboard to his left with the name of the award pushed out from the back plate as well.
