R.S. Owens in LA Times for 78th Oscars

Wednesday, May 03, 2006

R.S. Owens & Company, Chicago, IL – Everyone loves the Oscars – the movies, the celebrities, the Red Carpet ceremony, the speeches, the upsets, the tears, the joy, and the trivia. For instance, the Oscar is not made in Hollywood. It’s made on the Northwest side of Chicago, and has been since 1983. The actual award is a hefty 8 ½ pounds, is 13 ½” tall and is plated in 24K gold only after being electroplated in silver, copper, and nickel. To watch the procedure on how we manufacture the Oscar Award, click on the link below to watch the 2:15 video of Scott Siegel, President of R.S. Owens explaining the process as reported by the Los Angeles Times.
